AndyB
Hi, all. After an opinion. This thread harks back to an earlier one where I mentioned having to return a Hornby 31 to my retailer because the chasis under the cab cracked. The body shell of the replacement cracked, so I returned this. The 3rd one was ok, but the lights at one end still don't work. This is because fitting the decoder resulted in the cab detail (including LEDs) failing to connect with the electrical contacts once re-assembledl. Didn't want to risk cracking the chasis by repeatedly taking it apart again and again to cure this. Hornby has contacted me with an offer to replace the original (cracked chasis) which has long since been sent back to them by my retailer. Just after an opinion really. Is it worth the hassle of sending the most recent replacement back with the hope that they might re-fit the decoder and get the lights working on a new replacement? Andy Y
I'd suggest contacting Hornby directly by 'phone to clarify Andy. I'll lock this topic so that we don't stray into replies on the wider issue covered at http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php/topic/16381-possible-replacement-chassis-for-class-31/.
