Hzero Florence

On a recent visit to Florence we visited the above attraction. It is a huge HO model railway and well worth seeking out. As well as the layout itself there is also a fascinating film showing some of the building techniques as well as how it was transferred to its current site (a disused cinema).

To find out more just Google Model Railway Florence.

I was particularly impressed with the scale speeds. Trains stop at red signals and then proceed on green, they stop and start slowly. There are many small cameos around the layout and at two of the corner sections there are cutaway sections that show some of the construction (such as the helix).

The only real drawback in my opinion is a lack of any weathering, but I accept that it is not practical on this scale.
