dpgibbons
I'm pondering how best to engrave bricks on my new laser. In 7mm, mortar courses are 0.25mm wide, which is several times the laser kerf. So what's the most efficient way to engrave them? Multiple passes? Using a fill? RMweb Gold GWR57xx Posted September 17, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 17, 2023 I’ve only done a few small bits of brickwork so far, but what I found worked best for me with my Emblaser 1 was to draw the courses as single horizontals then draw the short verticals between courses to make the “bricks”. Once this is painted and “mortar” added to the courses it looks ok to me. I don’t know if this approach would work for you, as your laser may be much finer than mine, which is now quite old. If I were you I’d draw up a couple of small sections using different approaches and see which you prefer. I’d be very interested to see what results you get, as it looks like a good laser machine.
