Middlesea John
Hi. A plea for help. Well, more of a request than a plea. Does anyone know where I might beg, steal borrow (or buy) a 4mm scale drawing of the SECR 10 compartment 100 seater non-corridor coach please. Thanks in advance. Sabato
I have somewhere in one of my piles a drawing of the one at Sheffield Park. Try the Bluebell.
145 Squadron
There is a drawing of the 10 comp't 100 seater (dia. 52) in Mike King's Southern Pull-Push Stock book as well as a few photos. Plans may be available separately from him. My model (in 4mm) was scratch built using Bill Bedford brass sides. Hope that helps.
Middlesea John
Thanks both of you. Of course that's the only one of the Mike King books I haven't got ! I could try the Bluebell.
RMweb Gold Nick C Posted November 24, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 24, 2023 Looking in the PP book, I think you need this drawing: "Two More Pull-Push sets (SR 1937-39 conversions, sets 1-6 & 656-658) 1 sheet" 656-658 being formed of an LSWR driving trailer and an SECR 'long-ten' https://sremg.org.uk/files/MikeKingDrawings.pdf

Thanks I had been wondering who had produced the sides and lo, here they are. What was the donor please 145? Phil. 145 Squadron
Hi Phil: the majority of the carriage was Plasticard with I think 247 developments white metal bogies. The roof was made from a wood former, sanded to shape then a layer of plasticard bound to the former with bandage then cooked in the oven until it formed the shape. Most of the rest of the bits from the usual small suppliers sources. I don't usually make these earlier coaches, most being Bulleids of various types but wanted a coach to go with my Ironclad Pull - Push set. I enjoyed the diversion! I've got a RTR Hornby jobby that isn't correct side wise, but might be the correct shape otherwise (with some Licence). I shall dig it out and have a think ( which is all I usually do, as you may know). Phil

Phil IIRC Roxey sell the roofs from their kits separately to get the correct profile - or look out for a cheap Bachmann birdcage? I've got a pair of the Bedford sides for one that have been sitting in the "to do something about" pile for several years now!
CCG55
There are three slight variants of the 100 seater which are also described in the SECR coaches book Oakwood press. I got my etched sides ends and floors from Worsley works in 4mm, roofs and bogies from roxey.
