RMweb Premium Mark Forrest Posted November 25, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 25, 2023 Normal practice is to form them from guitar wire, I'm not sure I've ever seen or heard of etched AJs. I don't think brass of nickel silver would have the required combination of strength and springiness that you get with steel wire.
jasp
I am aware of how AJs are normally fabricated but etched hooks have been produced - see Scalefour News 211 Edited November 25, 2023 by jasp spelling
jbg
To the best of my knowledge the etched AJ couplings in that article seem to have been a personal project by the author. I am not aware that these have ever been commercially available. Lanarkshire Models do supply dine etched droppers but for that system you still need to make the hooks themselves.
