I first met Pete when I joined Southend MRC back in '73, he was one of the first to make me welcome. We hit it off from the start and would often go to exhibitions and depot open days together until I moved away a few years later on. After that, we'd only see each other occasionally at exhibitions but the last few years saw more frequent contact as he was a fairly regular customer at the model shop where I work part time.

I mentioned to him one day that I was looking for an old Airfix 4F as a source of spares - his response was to dig one out of his collection and give it to me. I still have it and now intend to restore it one day as a memento to an old and missed friend.
