Bachmann 121 DCC Sound cutting out

Firstly, hope this is the right area - sorry if not.

 

I recently bought a Bachmann 121 with sound - running on an NCE Power Cab - which runs beautifully with all sound functions working, until I'd run it for about an hour.Following this any attempts to access the higher functions (10-29) were met with the sound powering off (but lights and movement remaining) and the only way to get sound back was to factory reset decoder (CV 8 to 8) - any idea why this and how I could go about sorting it?

This is often caused by a combination of sound level high with poor electrical path between track and decoder.

Clean wheels, pickups and track and/ or try lower volume by reducing CV 266 to a value around 50.

I'd be checking you aren't accidentally triggering the mute function (F18). When I had a PowerCab it had an annoying habit of activating different functions when aiming for the higher numbered ones.
