Southernboy
I've often wished Google Earth / Bing Maps (etc) had existed 100 years ago so we could look back at our chosen locations through history. Well now we can (sort of) historypin.com Basically it's the same map functionality - but with old photos added - and you can select specific decades. It's only Beta at the moment - but has potential. People add their own photos/stories to help build a historical picture of any given location. It's not a railway modelling resource - but could be useful for such projects. I've no connection with it - but as a project, it's interesting. It seems to be in partnership with Google - so what the ultruistic / for profit split is I'm not sure. Similarly I'm not sure how owners of picture libraries fit in / could benefit ... Anyway - it caught my interest and thought I'd share ...
trisonic
Yes, it will be a good site eventually.... I'm on the east coast of the 'States and all it does for me is to change size intermittently......I wonder why? Best, Pete.
