Berwick on Tweed 03

I remember on the many trips up the ECML to Edinburgh that there used to be an 03 stabled in a siding to the west of the station.

In the days of HST's and fixed formation trains that needed no shunting why was it there?

It was used for local shunting at Tweedmouth and Belford. Tweedmouth still had a fairly busy yard up until about 1984. There were coal sidings and a ballast quarry at Belford. More than once did I see this loco bimbling back up the ECML in between the HSTs and dwindling Deltics!

Dave.
