First time weathering a loco

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Im chris, im 16 and been doing this hobbie all my life and ive just weathered a loco for the first time EVER! The loco i have weathered is a Hornby Terrier and ive not just weathered it, ive re-painted it too! I tryed to make it look as if it was in its last few weeks of running back in the 1960's. Obviosly im not the expert but i bet you all are! what do you think of my eferts?

Cheers

Chris

That's pretty good for a first effort. One thing I would heartily reccommend for the future though, is to study photographs of the real thing and try to copy the patterns of the muck and grime on them.

Good on you for having a go, looks great for a first effort, I agree with the first post photos do show what really happens, and dont forget to think how gravity works with water and how cracks and joins make things collect (like rust)

The only thing I would have changed is the amount of ash that sits on the front. Good effect when its in the shed just been cleaned out, but after a bit of a run, you have to think what the wind would do to all that.

I wont show you my first, it ended up in the bin.
