Bachmann Standard 3MT tank

Recommended Posts

Now, I don't own an example, but there is something I can tell you about Bach's bigger tank loco models that may be useful. Typically the whole bunker behind the cab door opening with the rear spectacle plate section is a seperate moulding; when removed it leaves an open cab rear much as a tender loco. It is usually screw attached to the rest of the body, usually to whatever ballast weight is in the bunker area. Undo the crosshead screws underneath the rear end of the body and see what happens when you 'wiggle it'. Sometimes there is a little liquid cement bonding the cab roof to the spectacle plate; this makes a brittle bond which 'snaps out' cleanly.

Whatever you find, do tell. I am manfully resisting the purchase of one of these...
