Alan Kettlewell
I'm currently working on a steet scene on my layout which is '00' based around late 1950s early 1960's. I was a youngster at that time and I recall the street lights on my estate being of a concrete design with a metal access plate at the bottom. (we used to chalk out cricket stumps on the plate for the odd game until the local bobby came and moved us on!) The posts were either hexagonal or octagonal cross section becoming narrower towards the top and finally a bend at the top and the lamp itself at an angle towards the road. I think these might be too difficult to make so I'm seeking a supplier if anyone knows who might have these. They don't necessarily need to be working lights. Can anyone throw any light on the subject please? (Pun intended - sorry!) Many thanks Regards Alan

Alan Kettlewell
Hi try Kytes lights they may have what you want: Kytes Lights Dave Thanks Dave, Have had a quick look there. They have a good range of lamps, not exactly the style I'm seeking but if all else fails then there may be one I can use. Many thanks Regards Alan
28XX
Probably made by Concrete Utilities, Ware, Herts. Getting rare nowadays due to 'spalling' of the concrete causing an unfortunate habit of bits dropping off onto passers-by. If you fear railway modelling is nerdy, you will be comforted to know there are street lighting enthusiasts/ collectors like this bloke, http://www.simoncornwell.com/lighting/home.htm
BernardTPM
Hornby have these small concrete lamp posts in their Skaledale range: http://www.Hornby.com/skaledale-168/r8672/product.html Once upon a time there were large concrete type posts in the Minic Motorways range: http://www.tri-ang.co.uk/Minic/lights.htm http://www.tri-ang.co.uk/Minic/lightsD.htm Might be worth enquiring with P & D Marsh and Langley; they might have something suitable.
