I have a video program here I recorded off a satellite channel where Pete Waterman talks of these rock stars mentioned in the thread here as all being railway enthusiasts. He also said when they came into his office and noticed all the models in the office that they didn't want to talk about music they just wanted to talk about trains. When they found out that he also had the real thing as well, they asked him " can we come down when the public's not around and have a ride"?

He also talked about his time as the owner of Flying Scotsman, and the fact that he had it repainted into the correct shade of green to match the condition it was in. He  said it was never Apple Green in the condition that is was in. Apparently he was deluged in hate mail and from vicars of all people. He said people refused to talk to him, they spat at him and one chap accused him of nicking the real Flying Scotsman and substituting it with an impostor.
