Similar Locos?

Recommended Posts

just had a look...too late.....I'm hooked

especially as it appears one doesn't just get a loco...but the stock that goes with it?

looks even better value if the sets include four or five flat cars or gons.......?

P.S. what is the large cylinder on top of the boiler on the Silver Moon Express loco? Is it [as per C&S] an air tank? It isn't present on the other types of mogul...

would it be removable?

PSS...sorry folks, just read the Mogul Mods site......yes it is an air tank [receiver]

This appears to be new stock from one seller, a bit more at £29..........

And the line from the US Xmas market sellers, "heirloom quality"........phew!

Hornby are missing a market here, the old Tri-ang 3F in "Dickensian Christmas artwork", in Heirloom Quality endorsed by a certain National Railway Museum.,, available on easy payments, with one gaily decorated coal wagon per month in 12 issues.........

The main issue appears to be the tender height, too low and wheel diameter small with too large a tender to loco gap, see illustration corrected with Photoshop. It may need some replacement wheels and bogies.

Apart from that I am only adding finer details and figures.

A matter very much for concern, the Ebay seller is reporting lack of supply of stock, offering a wait or refund, quite fairly, but it breaks the rules of an auction not to have the stock at the end of bidding. I am waiting, for the moment, but it does not look like suppy in this instance, the seller may prove me wrong.

Has anybody received the goods as mentioned in earlier posts? there was a second seller at a higher price for the same painted issue locomotive.

If this cheaper loco does not arrive, the cost jumps to well over £100. out of my league I am afraid.

Stephen,

I ordered one from Liquidation Ltd (ebay) on Nov 4th and it arrived earlier this week, the 9th I think. Interestingly, I ordered after Clive (Boscarne) had been told that there was no more stock, when I checked, two were available. I paid £24.99 and an hour later they were £29.99.

I got both of mine from the same account for £24.99, delivered on wednesday.

I think some confuson might have existed with two suppliers, but I have cancelled the purchase from the one SAC Martin got his from as I was waiting for supply whilst the seller suppied other purchasers. He sold eight, in the period he had been paid for my item, quite unacceptable.

He has already offered a refund, and I am ordering from Liquidation instead, ordered already, and to pay, once the refund is returned via Pay Pal.

Sellers are obliged to actually have stock in an auction, not having supplies or diverting the sales order is illegal, and against Ebay rules.

Very angry about this, ordered goods, paid for them, then find out no actual goods aside for all the purchasers, it is awkward getting refunds, and costly to re-order from another supplier. At least others here benefited from the posting, but i feel cheated and let down.

Stephen,

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with the seller, hopefully ebay will take the appropriate action......

Ref Liquidation Ltd, the two I ordered, one on the 4th at £24.99 and the second, ordered on the 5th for £29.99 both arrived on the 9th. Seller was very obliging and offered them both to me at the lower price and posted both for the price of one. The packaging however was somewhat minimal, just parcel tape wrapped around the outer card sleeve with plenty of 'ventilation'!. Thankfully the model itself is encased in a substantial expanded polystyrene carton and survived it's postal journey unscathed.

I have bought one from Liquidation, he is holding it pending the refund from the other seller. None too bothered about a box, it is going to be re-built anyway, as long as it is in one piece! The first seller says he is expecting more, but I can't see a massive supply available for such a specialist item on Ebay. I suspect these are being sourced from Kader in China, or Hong Kong, direct, remaindered from the original Bradford exchange supply.

A small layout is being prepared, a wall mounted diorama, end to end, nearly all trestle, trestle bridge, and a Girder bridge modified from the Airfix Dapol offering, all stretched to On30 clearances, with a wooden deck, and wood sheathed girder tops. I will publish details later on the girder bridge. I have some O scale buildings all prepared, just got to make some rocks and trees!!

Frustrating week as I needed the Loco to check track loading gauge and clearances, but I worked them out anyway, and posted the drawing as well, based on NMRA and others figures for On30. Stock will be scratchbuilt to save money, modified HO bogies, wooden bodies etc., it only needs a small selection of detailed stock, rather than lots of operating stock.

No refund, as yet, hope there is no dawdling by the original seller, at least one is on order before these all disappear.from sale. I simply can't justify the cost of the real Bachmann C&S version.

Anybody have any experience of Pay Pal refunds, does it simply appear in the account and is it creditable to my bank account or is it usable against goods on Ebay direct from the Pay Pal account?

I do not worry about Ebay losses, like postal problems, .....if I can't afford to right the cost off, then I do not bid on Ebay, but this is somewhat different ,

I bought the item in good faith, and recommended the item to others on RM web, who have received supplies when I was already owed the item from a closed paid for auction.

For reference ......on Ebay refunds apparently the refunds go direct via PayPal to the source, your bank account, and can take time to process. If you pay via a Debit or Credit card, it goes back to the associated Bank A/C. the refund does not show in the Pay Pal account details as it goes to your bank. There is a warning that the process "can" take up to 30 days, but may be much quicker.

Anyway the other supplier is holding on pending the payment, so back to square one, and perhaps if the seller gets more , another one as well,

  • 2 weeks later...

Finally arrived, excellent condition, nice runner, a bit stiff, it will need running in. It appears exactly the same specification as the Bachmann Spectrum C&S 260 Mogul version, with some metal fittings etc., and actually in real life the "Artwork" does not look as gaudy.....

It is very fine silk screen printing, and has not got raised letting etc, although the painted are is like a transfer and under a strong lens you can make out an edge, but it only affects the Wolf's picture on the cab side.

So re-painting should be no problem at all, black, with graphite and red trim to cab and tender top.The detailing there is good, just missing drag bars between the brake shoes...The tender trucks have brake shoes n line with the wheels....something UK makers still fail to add.

It does not look like much has to be added apart from Crew, tools, and brake rods, and a working front coupler. Comments on the web quoted the tender as too low, but shots of he real C&S look about the same as the model height.
