Matador Posted November 14, 2010 Share Posted November 14, 2010 I have a Hornby 8F that I am relettering LMS I dont want to guesstimate the letters/numbers positioning. can anyone give me the following measurements. Tender: bottom of side to bottom of LMS lettering Cab: bottom of cab side to bottom of numbering and what size shoild the numbers be for the cab. Buhar Posted November 14, 2010 Share Posted November 14, 2010 It's a big depends.... You need to examine your model to see which build it is and the determine your date. If your loco was built before 1936 then it would have black shaded gold insignia and those built in 1936 had the block style of that year (some red shaded, some black). Numbers were generally 12" (although a few got 10"). 1937 onwards it was generally yellow and red and then during the war plain yellow. The number was centred on the cab-side and the M of LMS centred on the tender side. During the war a few got cabside numerals placed about 6" below the windows. Buhar Posted December 5, 2010 Share Posted December 5, 2010 Sorry for the delay in replying - I forgot! On Stanier 4000 gal tenders the bottom of the actual letter (NOT the shading) was 2'6" (10mm) above the tender footplate. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
