RMweb Premium Trainshed Terry Posted November 23, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 23, 2010 Hello All I am asking this question on behalf of a fellow modeler. He has recently purchased a 2nd hand GF/Bachmann class 66 which has a dry bearing and he wishes to lubricate it but he dose not have the instruction sheet for the said model. Ca n anybody pass on the information on how to gain access to the motor with out losing the motor brushes. Thank you in advance. Terry.
RMweb Gold TomE Posted November 23, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 23, 2010 Hi Terry. The instruction sheets which come with the model can be downloaded here: http://www.Bachmann.co.uk/pdfs/gf_66_decoder.pdf and, http://www.Bachmann.co.uk/pdfs/GF_cl_66.pdf] Unfortunately they are not that clear, but having done this to fit a decoder can say that the body does unclip fairly easily. I just use a thin sliver of card or plastic to stop the clips sloting back into place. Hope this helps. Tom.
Edwin_m
I'm sure I read somewhere you aren't supposed to oil the motor bearings? The bogies just pull out for lubrication, which also gives access to the worms, but to get to the actual motor is a total strip-down. A while since I did one but I seem to remember getting the cabs out was particularly tricky.
RMweb Premium Trainshed Terry Posted November 23, 2010 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted November 23, 2010 The thing is it is not my model and it is owned by some one else and there is a dry bearing in the motor. I shall have to speak to him again so that I get a more clarification on the problem. Terry
