5Bel
Hi All, On the workbench at the moment is this Replica MLV. I bought the body as soon as Replica released it, but it has sat in my cupboard ever since. A couple of weeks ago I decide to finish it. It is being built unpowered to run either with my DC Kits MLV or my 4Cep/Bep. It has a mixture of Replica and Southern Pride underframe parts and a DC Kits/ MJT dummy power bogie. It will be finished in plain blue as 68004 and is ready for the paintshop when it warms up a bit. Meanwhile it's back to the 4Cig and 71. Cheers for now, Ian. SRman
Are you sure they did not run in that rather fetching lime green livery?? Many, many years ago I converted an old Triang BG into a reasonable facsimile of an MLV and, like yours, as a dummy unit. I subsequently detailed the underframes with Southern Pride and DC Kits bits with MJT motor bogie frames - again, like yours. Of course, the Replica body is more accurate than my effort and looks much better. I'll be interested to see this when you have finished the detailing and painted it. 5Bel
Hi All, Update on the MLV. It has now been painted in overall blue as 68004. I already have a Blue/Grey DC Kits version so wanted something different with this one. It has been finished with Precision Matt varnish. I still need to do the handrails and jumper cables and I am going to lightly weather it. Cheers for now, Ian.

5Bel
Hi All, I have finished the MLV at long last. The jumpers are from a Hornby 73, wipers are MJT. I have given it a coat of matt varnish to dull it right down and it looks OK. I now have two MLV's so will not be partaking in Bachmann's new one, whenever it gets here. Here are a few pics. Its now back to doing the hinges on my Replica/MJT 4Cig! Comments welcome as always. Cheers for now, Ian.

5Bel
HI Mark, Thanks for the comment. I have one of Replica's chassis units in my 4Epb and very good it is too. This MLV will remain unpowered. Cheers for now, Ian.
dasatcopthorne
HI Mark, Thanks for the comment. I have one of Replica's chassis units in my 4Epb and very good it is too. This MLV will remain unpowered. Cheers for now, Ian. Hi Ian. Nice job on the MLV. I'm just doing two myself but having messed two up when painting, I've taken the precaution this time to undercoat them with Halfords plastic primer. I gives a lovely finish to paint on. The plastic used to mould these MLVs seems very 'greasy' and my first attemps never seemed to take the paint wery well. Mine will be 1 x all Blue and the other green. Cheers Dave
5Bel
Hi Dave, Thanks for the comment. I may be tempted into doing a green one. I will either do it as a Replica "kit" or wait until their RTR version is out. I will not buying a Bachmann one. Cheers for now, Ian.
