philip-griffiths
I am trying to construct a model of the GWR viaduct at Crumlin. It had two parts, the larger section across the main Ebbw valley was straight but a bit too long to model, while the shorter section across the Kendon was curved. It is this that I'm trying to build. It had two pillars, three warren truss spans. I have detailed design and construction notes for the straight section. However with the curved section there is a slight problem. To curve it, I could either expand the outer width of the pillars and maintain the four girders at the same length, or I can keep the pillar with the same dimensions and that would require the four girders to be of different lengths. The question is, which would be right. Photos of the viaduct do not seem to answer this question. If anyone has any knowledge that could resolve this for me then I would be grateful. many thanks Philip Griffiths
