Rick_Skateboard
Hello All. This is the first thing I've tried to post on the new forum, so I hope it works! I was wondering if anyone has had any experience of touching up the paint on a Bachmann Large Logo livery loco? I'm sure that every RTR manufacturer and every paint manufacturer's idea of BR Blue, Warning Panel Yellow and Roof Grey will be different! I am detailing and renumbering a 37/4 (Bachmann's 37410) and I need to blend in the new parts. I've got on ok so far, I've painted the new etched roof grille with Railmatch paint, but it's only a very light coat which I dry-brushed on. I'm worried that a block of colour on a flat bit of the loco's body will stick out like a sore thumb if it's a different shade. I've had disasters with this in the past, painting some handrails added to a Lima GUV resulted in having to repaint the whole van! Any suggestions or pictures of other members experiences would be great. Cheers, Rick
SRman
Do like they do on the real thing: patch paint. If you keep the edges square and following panel lines, then it can be quite prototypical to have patches of different colours.
