Hello everyone,

I am french speaking and a little bit lost

I am just coming fron the "new member" topic and I suppose this is the right place to post my messages.

I 'am busy building a layout in HO scale with a coke plant area.

You will find more details about the layout in this link :

http://www.ho-ptit-t...n/index_en.html

For the coke plant, I needed to represent different piles of coal and coke.

So I tried different techniques to represent them and here is the one that was chosen both for its simplicity as for its good appearance.

This technique can be used to represent many other piles as coal!

Here is the first try :

Here is the second try :

You 'll find all details of this construction on page :

Thank you for giving me your comments

Have a nice day

Daniel

You may be thinking that you are having problems with the language, but your pictures speak differently :) You have a very impressive set of baseboards, beautifully planned and made, and the work done so far looks excellent. Do you have a track plan?

Keep up the good work, and post lots of pictures please

Good morning Steve

Actualy, I spent about 1 year planning and building the model of the future layout.

I changed hundreds of times the plans in order to put all my ideas on the room I have!

Hello everyone,

Model railroading allows representing different types of sites including industrial sites.

As I have said already, my layout has a site representing a coke plant.

During the extinction of the coke, a large quantity of water is used.

After this operation, water is purified in a treatment pond or "Dorr Oliver" before reuse.

Here are pictures of the the actual site from which I could achieve this pond.

They are Property of Gilles Durvaux and appear here with his kind permission.

Here is the model:

Thank you for your indulgence, this is my first achievement in scratch building.

Happy reading and good day

Hi Daniel,

I will be watching this progress with real interest. I have a large collection of SNCB rolling stock, so am hoping that you're layout will be based in Belgium! Good luck with it all! Maybe one day I'll get round to building my own Belgian based layout.

Hello,

About the layout location, i didn't decide anything.

I suppose that will be somewhere between Belgium, Germany and France, in an imaginary area.

That will give me a large possibility to choose the rolling stock. ;)

About the turgid green water pond, i'm happy that it's remind things for you, that maybe means that my job is not so bad. :P

Your modelling skill is very good. I like the scratch built buildings. If they are anything to go by then this layout will be spectacular.

The name of the topic caught my eye as I believe there was a model shop in Limoges called HO Ptit train. My father in law has told me of it, however I believe it closed in 2007.

Being an SNCF modeller I will enjoy seeing how this comes along. Good luck!

Hello everyone,

In order to control a feedback signal, automation or just a control pannel, we must know the position of trains.

After studying the current detection, I propose a system based on infrared barrier.

I developed this system to detect the presence of trains very accurately and independently of DCC.

Here's how it looks:

At left, the infrared transmitter and right, the receiver

Here is the system installed on the hidden yard

You see the transmitters fixed on the portal

and receivers are visible between the ties (black balls)

You will find all the details of this achievement on the page

Thank you for sharing your comments and questions about this

Regards

Daniel
