edcayton
Just a quick heads-up. If you have Gold TV(I don't) they are showing the Titfield Thunderbolt at 1 o'clock. Even if you don't have time to see the whole film, the opening shot of the Bullied pacific crossing Midford viaduct with the 1400 tank underneath is a real classic. Tim Hale
The first time that I saw the Titfield Thunderbolt was shown on our school's film club in the early 60's, the effect was profound, even though I was fully paid-up member of Ian Allan's Locospotters* Club. Maybe it just confirmed the fact that steam railways would always be (the better) part of my life and I have never regretted one minute of the relationship. Now my eldest son has joined me and he is another Southern man but he had no choice having spent so many hours trudging around preservation sites and long abandoned trackbeds.
