Mike-Greg
Hi (Its me again ) I have a fiddle yard on a lower level althou I have made access to it for maintanence / derailments It is difficult to see it during operation it is 3 roads, but they are quite short I neeed to beable to see that when there is something in one it is clear of anything entering or exiting the other 2 see diag: What I was thinking about is using 6 bi-coulor LED,s 1 each end of each road the first on entry to show when the unit is far enough in to clear the other 2 roads the 2nd to show the the exit ends are clear green = clear red = danger I have heard about some form of optic detector that would fitt between the sleepers and detect if there was something over it or not so if not the led would be green if covered it would show red thing is i hve just spent 3 hours using the serch here to find something to no avail ( maby using the wrong serch word ??° thing is would this work,, and if so what do i need to buy and how would i wire it up thanks in advance Mike
corax67
Hi Mike, there is a host of general information about train detection on this site: http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/~rdmurg/clinic/detectit.htm and a ready made solution here (proximity detectors): http://www.azatrax.com/ir-model-train-detector.html and: http://www.heathcote-electronics.co.uk/IRDetec.htm plus an absolute shed load of circuits on here: http://home.cogeco.ca/~rpaisley4/CircuitIndex.html if you can wield a soldering iron.
