CullingworthGNR
Hello guys I've just taken delivery of a Bachmann A1 that runs very smoothly. However, it struggles to get around 2nd radius curves without derailing. Has anyone had the same problem, or could anyone confirm that it will run smoothly on 3rd or 4th radius curves? Cheers Tom
S.A.C Martin
I've got six of these models - all are at home on second radius and anything bigger - they prefer bigger curves due to the floating cartazzi arrangement.
CullingworthGNR
This is with the cartazzi wheel removed (I need to get hold of a flangeless one). It runs fine without the tender, but with the tender attached the front bogie derails consistently. I'm sure it will be fine on the 4th radius curves on my new layout, but I just wanted to check and see if anyone had any easy solutions to this issue. Cheers

Cheers Hi Tom, If you have it on the close coupling setting for the tender, it won't go round 2nd radius curves. It really is only happy around 3rd and up for that. CullingworthGNR
Yeah, tried that. I had thought about widening the gap that the drawbar goes through, in order to give it more sideways play. Will have a look when I get home.
mossdp
I seem to remember a problem with the Cartazzi truck arrangement not sliding smoothly on one example and causing derailments. I think cured it with a few very fine strokes of a file to remove rough edges. Not the same problem as your though if you have removed it.
CullingworthGNR
Just thought - presumably a reverse curve is likely to cause this derailment, particularly on 2nd radius? Think I've found the problem!
10000
Should go thro' a 2nd radius reverse curve as well. Have you glued the doors on ? When I first put mine on they caused derailments. I had to put them on again angled in slightly.
CullingworthGNR
Finally realised what was going wrong - all the detail parts had been fitted, meaning that the front bogie kept coming off. With these bits removed it runs like a dream, thanks for all your help. Tom
