I remember joining a train at Custom House in 1969, going to North Woolwich. I had been for an interview to join the Merchant Navy (Manchester Liners) aboard the m.v Akaroa in KG5 dock. The Seamens' Mission was virtually right outside the station.

I was offered the job, but only managed one GCE, so it fell through. When I tried again the next year, I joined BP.

When and why did the 'heavy rail' side of it close?? Because of the DLR?? I can still see the third rail insulators on the ground. Looks like theres thousands of pounds worth of relatively new TPWS gear there aswel!

10/12/2006 the north london line was closed south of stratford so that parts north of slivertown can be converted into the dlr system in time for the 2012 and stratford city.

Good oh, saves me having to upload mine... icon_wink.gif then again, I think everyone would get bored with mine anyways, as most of the pics were of Aston Martins... icon_wink.gif
