windmills
Hi all, I'm currently trying to remove the body of a new MM CLASS 141/181 Loco in order to fit a 21 pin decoder. Now, I know it says to lightly squeeze the body in the middle and this will release the 4 clips holding the body. Must be an Irish joke!?! Has anyone a sensible suggestion as to how to accomplish this task without destroying the loco?
windmills
Solved this problem after some helpful advice on another forum. Should anyone encounter difficulty removing the body of this loco, the way to proceed is to carefully remove the handrails or at least loosen them from the sides in order to be able to get fingers at the bottom of the removable body, then squeeze vigourously just above the location of the retaining lugs while pulling the base/chassis. This should result in the body coming off suddenly and the two end cab sections shooting off in different dirctions, one landing about four feet away. However, the body does come off without damage to it or the rest of the loco. Replacement of body and cab ends is straightforward and easy.....just press and click into place. Refitting the handrails is a bit trickier, good eyesight, pointy pliers and much patience and/or a wide ranging vocabulary (!?) are essential! Good luck!
