45669
Afternoon All, Many of you with an interest in railways in foreign parts will have seen the pictures of South African steam that I had on my Fotopic site. Well, the Flickrization of Fotopic pictures continues and the most recent additions to my Flickr site are from Germiston and Capital Park in 1972. For the benefit of anyone that did not see them on Fotopic, or, indeed, anyone that might like to see them again, here's the link : http://www.flickr.com/photos/train-pix/collections/72157626620481199/ Some samples to start you off... Click on the link above if you are interested to see the rest.
bingley hall
Nice. Love the shots of the Garrats especially the GM class. Unfortunately the GMs had all gone by the time I got there in 1976.
45669
Nice. Love the shots of the Garrats especially the GM class. Unfortunately the GMs had all gone by the time I got there in 1976. It was surprising how much difference a couple of years made. Other people that went there in the mid - late 70s were gob-smacked by what we had seen just those few years earlier. Lots more pictures still to come.
Andy Louch
Evening all, Wonderful phots of South African steam I managed a 'one and only' visit in September 1983 and it was pretty amazing then. Looking at the pics from 10 years earlier the railway must have still been almost 100% steam? I'm in the process of scanning in slides from 1983 - a couple to show that SA was still a superb place for steam nearly 30 years ago!
45669
Evening All, Futher to my previous message, another batch of South African steam pictures has been added to Flickr. Anyone interested to see them will find them here in the 'Stop Press!' collection : http://www.flickr.com/photos/train-pix/collections/72157627090322278/ See the Set dated 8th August. They will be there for about a month, but they are also in the 'South Africa 1972' Collection which is here : http://www.flickr.com/photos/train-pix/collections/72157626620481199/ Hope that they are (still) of interest.
