dube
Just noticed that this train pack is taken from a painting by Barry J Freeman in 1951, I`m a bit puzzled as the ExLMS coaches are maroon ? shouldn`t they be crimson / cream in 1951 ?
frobisher
I suspect that they are in de-branded LMS Maroon rather than BR Maroon - which I think is the great thing about these sets is that we're getting coaches in transition liveries

We have the apple green A1 in a transition livery as well now .
dube
so the coaches in the pack are correct for 1951 still showing LMS maroon with BR numbering and are in a slightly different livery to the ExLMS coaches Hornby sold in BR Maroon for the late 50s60s, so would any have lasted into 1955 in this LMS maroon or would they have all been painted crimson / cream by then ?, just before BR painted them BR Maroon !? RMweb Premium gc4946 Posted June 3, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 3, 2011 As they were used on top link services, they got repainted quickly, but would all have been done well before 1955, more likely 1952 or 1953.
