Renumbering/retouching up a Hornby EWS 56

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am currently trying to renumber a Hornby "56059" to 56115 "Barry Needham" , Im trying to find which transfers match the Hornby colours? as well im trying to patch paint the model as well to avoid a complete repaint, so which paint would match up to the Hornby colour? sorry if this has been covered before but I cant seem to find the original post

Thanks to anyone who can help

Hi Nick,

Transfer wise modelmaster are the nearest colour to the real thing been very deep so give them a ring and sk for the EWS 56 pack.

Paint wise phoenix paints EWS P194 gold should do the trick for painting over the numbers, but to save doing this gaugemaster sell model strip paste in a little tub if you brush this over the gold area and leave for a few hours when you come to wash it off the numbers/lettering will be gone an if anys left just cotton bud and thinners the remains of, be careful thou as if you do this method anything you put the paste on will also come of so keep it away from the orange cant line and the luminous base of body stripe an you'll be ok also make sure the body is kept in an air tight plastic bag or similar as the modelstrip doesn't work to good if you jus leave it on the unit to do its magic ;)
