RMweb Premium Jason T Posted December 7, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 7, 2011 Have you thought about cutting into the hill and adding retaining walls around the edge of where the building would sit? Highly unlikely that it would be built diagonally, especially as it would have been built after the viaduct and road (you may get away with it with a building that pre-dates the viaduct). It would be simple enough to do and would also add to the scene in my opinion.

witherbrow
hows this then: built a wee retaining wall to go by the exchange - obviously the fence will be straight when it goes in haha and the new position of the building i can either keep the fence straight in line with the road or keep it in line with the hill curving it round and ending somewhere along the wall

KevinWalsh
Ash, Just a thought (and feel free to ignore completely), but If it was my diorama I would rotate the building through 180 degrees and give yourself a little area to extend the vehicle access down beside the door. witherbrow
have had little time to spend on the street of late but i managed to get a wee bit of stuff done today - only half of the scatter on the hill bit it will do unfortunately the card that supports the track has decided to give into gravity and come away ah well never mind im going to carry on haha you can see in the top left where the cad droops. on a posiive note i managed to score a transit van - two actually a new and an old one lovely
witherbrow
well now - hills all done tis a bit patchy but thats what bushes are for! using a mix copydex and hairspray i made a grassy hill a wee bit better than my usual attempt i also made a start on the viaduct scenery, as i forgot to buy any scatter for the bridge area ive settled with yorkshire teabags! to be honest i think they look rather good although it does show the dip at the left end rather well a few pics for anyone whos interested - basically of the whole area and a transit yay! will tackle the fence soon, going to run parallel to the road - those bt engineers are clever enough not to go up the embankment
witherbrow
lol you dont care all the yorkshire tea is on now so as far as track and such its all done have gone for grass between the roads lined off with metcalfe kerbs - next step is to install that chain link fencing ooh bloody hell that wont be fun
witherbrow
well its all done now the chain link is in the bushes are in place and im calling it a day - my attempt to get the fencing running along the road was hampered by the fence leaning over and mis-behaving, so instead i jusrt curved it around the hill i used pins in the base to secure it down, next time ill get some glue too. heres some pics of the whole scene: final shot is of my newly repaired networker - now when i say repaired i mean the leading bogie in the power car has been replaced (the original was shot) and all plugged in - whether it goes or not ive no idea lol not sure what ill be doing model wise from now - got a flat viewing in the next few days so most of my time in the near future is going to be concentrated on that i think armchair modelling and little bits will do from now on, i may also learn how to make a scenario on railworks - technically a virtual model railway taters!
