Elvinley
I have found Hornby to be excellent in this area. I recently bought a discounted County at a model show in Bristol which was found to be faulty when test run. I couldn't remember the seller but Hornby said it would be fixed under warranty if returned to them. In the past my father has purchased second hand locos, some many years old, and when faulty ones are returned to Hornby they are often fixed free of charge and posted back to him. I think this is above and beyond what most manufacturers would do and Hornby should be applauded for this.
Guest dilbert
If only the car manufacturers would do the same ... I would prefer Hornby to spend any extra pounds in product development rather than spending it in the area of maintenance, especially if this is 'free'. Of course there is brand fidelity that needs to factored in as well, but when something is too expensive it doesn't sell well (as one of my customers has recently discovered)... dilbert
