This is an incrdible story of the Nostromo spaceship model from the 1979 film, Alien. After nearly 30 years outside exposed to the elements, the Prop Store ha restored the model to it's former glory. Lots of really interesting material showing parts being resin cast and fabricated using old kits!

I still think there's something more "real" with large scale models used for special effects compared to CGI. The scenes of the Enterprise leaving drydock in Star Trek: The Motion Picture have never bee bettered, IMHO.

How could something that's had so much thought and work put into it originally be just left outside for 20 years? Maybe it could have been sold off to a museum… bah humbug, the wastefulness of the film industry!

Stanley Kubric's 2001 was infamous for that, theres a shot somewhere of one of the space station miniatures abandoned in a field.
