Bulleidnutter
I am at the stage within my current layout build where I need to wire up a triangle. I have 2 sides that are double track and one side that is single track with crossovers either side of the single track. Any help of wiring it up is most appreciated. amdaley
Hello. You didn't say whether you are using DC or DCC ? A quick sketch or photo of the area might help. Are you using a particular plan or is it your own idea because I've seen that triangle in one of Freezers plans I think ?
Weekday Cross
Hello. You didn't say whether you are using DC or DCC ? The section its in is "Electrics (non-DCC) - that is a big clue, unless of course he put it in the wrong section

bertiedog
Without seeing the exact layout all triangles in DC two rail are wired as if it is a reversing loop, as the loco goes into the Y shape, the other side of yhe Y is reversed, before the loco is taken on the line between the arms of the Y...hope this makes sense. The same swtching is requires as a reversing loop, and auto reversing loop circuits and commercial devices can be used. The overall principle is the same as the reversing loop, the loco enters one way round and departs the other way round, the isolating section can be the Y ends or the track joining them. As points control the triangle it is usual to couple the reversing to the point operation to automate the sequence required. Stephen.
Kenton
You didn't say whether you are using DC or DCC ? Makes no difference - if wired correctly it will be the same. Also if at least one side is double track (and it sounds like 2 sides are double track then it need not be treated as a reversing loop. It will require a section switch to power the isolated single side as this will be obtaining power from both of the double track controllers (not at once obviously). Assuming correct running on both double tracks the loco will either enter the single side from a crossing or exit via one changing from a down to an up line or the opposite. Wire the crossing as you would to a single branch line from both ends of the single side. Remember the golden rule - every frog rail must be isolated and powered from the point motor. Be very methodical in wiring and test test test every step.
