Hobby
I'll be taking South Bohemia, my Czech Narrow Gauge layout in HOe along and there are many other layouts of German, Swiss and other Continental prototypes. Also Specialist Trade stands and Societies and Secondhand... Saturday 17th September 2011 from 1030 to 1700 at The Town Hall, Upper Clifton Road, SUTTON COLDFIELD, West Midlands B73 6AB... Easy walking distance from the station on the Cross City line from Birmingham New Street! Hope to see you there!
bbishop
Hobby, thanks for the thread. I'm responsible for organising the layouts and, as well as South Bohemia, the following have been booked. Bw Udersfelde is DR epoch 3 in HO; it appeared in the press (Model Rail?) a couple of years ago. East German grunge. Ardez is Swiss in Hom. It was at Ally Pally earlier in the year and is well worth a second viewing. Schwachhausen is DB epoch 3 in O. It is still being built so Sutton Coldfield will be its first exhibition. I have seen the "work in progress" photographs and it will be spectacular. Nürnberg Winkelhof is DRG epoch 2 in HO from our own TonyA. Ottosschwande is DB epoch 5 in N. Fiasco is an Italian engine shed layout. Småtorp is a Swedish terminus iand Ulvik is a Norwegian terminus. They are both in HO and have been in Continental Modeller. So that is nine top class layouts from six countries, from N up to O gauge. I don't have details of the societies attending the show, or the trade support, but will post in due course. bbishop
I now have full details of the German Railway Society European Model Railway Exhibition on 17 September 2011. It is at The Town Hall, Upper Clifton Road, SUTTON COLDFIELD, West Midlands B73 6AB. There is off street parking close by and the venue is a few minutes from the station on the Cross City line from Birmingham New Street. There are nine layouts: Bw Udersfelde is DR epoch 3 in HO; it appeared in the press a couple of years ago. East German grunge. Ardez is Swiss in HOm and was at Ally Pally earlier in the year. The layout is fully automatic using a laptop running Railroad&Co's Traincontroller software. Schwachhausen is DB epoch 3 in O. It has just been finished so Sutton Coldfield will be its first exhibition. There is an article in the August 2011 Gauge O Guild Gazette and, I believe, there will be something in the September 2011 Continental Modeller. I expect that photographs will be posted on RM Web shortly. Nürnberg Winkelhof is DRG epoch 2 in HO from our own TonyA. Again, there should be photographs here shortly. Ottösschwande is DB epoch 5 in N. Fiasco is an Italian engine shed layout. South Bohemia is an HOe layout based in the Czech Republic by our own Hobby. You will already have seen photographs of this superb layout. Småtorp is a Swedish terminus and Ulvik is a Norwegian terminus. They are both in HO and have been in Continental Modeller. The following societies will attend: Swiss, French, Italian, Scandinavian, the Alte Zeit Gruppe and the GRS Members' Sales and Society Products. Traders will include: Winco, Mount Tabor, Contikits, Alan Crombie, Chris Roberts, Derby Trees, John Rowcroft and Team Track Trading. Sutton Coldfield is not far from the M6 and is easily accessable from most of England. Bill
RMweb Premium steam-driven boy Posted August 15, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 15, 2011 Hi, This is one of those exhibitions where I feel I've really missed out if I ca't make it, even though I don't model European - layouts, venue and atmosphere are spot on. I posted some of my happy-snappings from my last visit in '09 on RMweb3, I do hope I can make it again this year B) Regards, Gerry.
bbishop
There is an article in the September 2011 Continental Modeller about Schwachhausen, ome of the layouts at the GRS Model Railway Exhibition on 17 September. I haven't read it yet, I was skimming the mags in Smiths before signing on at the Labour Exchange. Comments, anyone? Bill
Mike at C&M
The Austrian Railway Group are also attending, as one of the societies

TonyA
Here are the photos of Schwachhausen that Bill mentioned. They are posted with the owner’s permission. Hopefully, photos of Nürnberg Winkelhof will follow next week when I have finished the tidying up. Tony

kirtleypete
Come and have a play, Bill....I might need a rest! Peter
bbishop
Peter, Thanks for the offer, I'll spell you over lunch. I shall be a busy bee, what with setting out the venue and doing the electrics beforehand, then demonstating my Schellenkamp O gauge wagons during the show. Can they have a ceremonial trundle along Schwachhausen before the show closes? Bill
kirtleypete
I'd be delighted - I'll make sure I bring my camera. Peter
bbishop
Four days to go and I'm getting nervous! Think of me on Saturday morning because I have a dozen and one things to do in 2½ hours. If you are coming, the exhibition opens at 10:30am this coming Saturday at Sutton Coldfield Town Hall, B73 6AB. I will be wearing a harrassed expression and a CMRA shirt. TonyA
Belatedly, here are a couple of photos of Nurnberg Winkelhof. Since they were taken, point signals have been added. If anyone would like to take a turn at operating, please make yourself known. Tony
RMweb Premium Patrick SPF Posted September 15, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 15, 2011 UGJ and SJ wagons on Småtorp. If anyone would like a "play" please ask. Patrick
bbishop
Well, I think everything is just about ready and I'm about to collect TonyA and Winkelhof then set off for Sutton Coldfield. We need to collect a CMRA cash box from the Welwyn storekeeper. I hope to see RM Webbers at Sutton Coldfield - I'm wearing a CMRA shirt and namebadge. Just about to sign off and am coaching a CFR course on Sunday so won't pick up on the feedback until after my eight fatal heart attacks. Bill
