Any ideas David Most early Loksounds were not wrapped and had a circular label on them which contained a five digit number that was usually the project number. There was version 2 and then a version 3 and then the V3.5 which was upgradeable from the V3. The Loksound would power an eight ohm speaker but with massive distortion and not for very long. Loksound have always used 100 ohms for speakers except for the XL which runs 32 ohms. What makes you think it is a Loksound anyway?

Nigelcliffe
What does a readback of CV7 and CV8 tell you ? They should contain the maker's NMRA number and the version of the decoder.

SRman
If i were you I would change that speaker fairly quickly to one or two 100 ohm items.
