I have bveen given a Loksound Decoder the only id it has on it is a black heat shrink and the lettering 47/05/18 the guy had it in a loco with an 8ohm speaker and the sound was ok I thought before v4 they could only use 100ohm.

Any ideas

Most early Loksounds were not wrapped and had a circular label on them which contained a five digit number that was usually the project number. There was version 2 and then a version 3 and then the V3.5 which was upgradeable from the V3.

The Loksound would power an eight ohm speaker but with massive distortion and not for very long. Loksound have always used 100 ohms for speakers except for the XL which runs 32 ohms.

What makes you think it is a Loksound anyway?
