JimG
As a newbie I was a little reluctant to post this but a couple of more experienced modellers seemed to think this was a good idea. Using neodymium magnets on simple plasticard sliders with the ubiquitous metal coat hanger as a push/pull and pieces of round nail sunk through the baseboard flush at the botton and just below the sleepers above( you can fill with ballast to completely hide them). With the standard Peco uncoupler tags (haven't got it to work with Farish sprung couplers....yet) Total cost about 50p per uncoupler point.Much stronger pull than the Peco electro magnets and way cheaper... Videos below... (had to hold the camera as the layout front is currently almost flush against the wall). Jim
Etched Pixels
Even simpler and cheaper (and I find more reliable for local systems anyway) is to replace that nail with a small square of plasticard with a tiny little ramp piece on top so you can lift the arm mechanically. Saves altering the stock too. Alan
