RMweb Gold DaveyH Posted September 21, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 21, 2011 Could somebody explain to me the difference between On30 and O 16.5 please? Thanks
RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted September 21, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 21, 2011 On30 is the American 1/48th scale O gauge 30inch gauge (2ft 6in) on 16.5mm track, (n = narrow gauge) O16.5 is the British 1/43rd scale O gauge on 16.5mm track, (2ft 3in in reality) So they are just the different descriptions for the similar US and UK O scale narrow gauge. You'll also see On3 used which is O on 3ft gauge in the US just to confuse things.
JeremyC
To complete the set, In Europe [or Germany at least] I believe this scalegauge combination is called Oe Jeremy
RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted September 21, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 21, 2011 Which they say is 750mm as they don't like Imperial Mind you some sites list On30 as On2 1/2 to conform to the older US standard. Just be glad you don't do garden railways as that's far more confusing
