bike2steam
With the moderate success of our DCR - 150 exhibition, and the recent completion of the new part of Blandford School along with it's new impressive Hall, we at the Blandford Town Museum Model Railway Club have decided to hold a model railway exhibition to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the completion of the through route of the then new S&DJR. We have a floor area available to us totalling over 7,500 square feet, which we hope to fill on the 24th & 25th of August 2013. So as this is an appropriate place, I invite anyone with an exhibitable S&DJR based layout to get in touch if available that particular weekend. Oh yes, and we will be dishing out exhibition plaques again, so other exhibition organisers can see where your layout has been appreciated
Combe Martin
Why not create a 'spectacular' by forming a collaboration with the lads from the Taunton Model Railway Group. Get them to bring their Bath Green Park along and connect it up to your Blandford layout for 'through' running. You'd need a couple of 'adapter' baseboards for the connections and would probably need to position a fiddle yard between the 2 stations and one at the Bournemouth end, but between you, you must have enough of them. You'd just need to build the adapter sections. It could therefore be .. Bath - through fiddle yard (Templecombe) - Blandford - terminal fiddle yard (Bournemouth) Your exhibition date is 2 years away, so you've plently of time to organise it and build the connecting boards between you. bike2steam
Nice idea, but Blandford is a 'roundy-roundy' strictly run 'one train-one circuit', at shows during open hours. But I don't think the powers that be with 'BGP' would approve given their reputation.
bike2steam
Because of avoiding clashes with other activities going on locally we've had to move the date to 21/22 September (2013).
