Bibby Line
I am installing some of the Albert Goodall produced "concrete" station lamps. Does anyone know what the spacing between lamps should be, was there a standard length? Would appreciate any help and advice. Eddie
10800
Don't know if there was a standard, but on Eridge they were spaced between 14 and 15m, depending on extent of open platform, presence of other buildings etc. (scaled off a 1:480 plan). Bibby Line
Thank you very much. It makes sense that the spacing varies depending upon the available light. Eddie
Colin parks
Hi Eddie, To add to the comments above, it should be noted that sometimes single-bracketed lamp posts were installed parallel to the platform edge rather than at right angles to it. One location where this done was at Preston Park station near Brighton. This must have been necessary where clearances were tight from lamps to track. Bibby Line
Thanks Colin, a very helpful tip because i have two platforms that are rather narrow. Eddie
