mike morley
Having been around for many years, the MKMRS's EM gauge layout, Milton Quays, has finally hit the Big Time. It has been invited to ExpoEM at Bracknell in May and the Warley show at the NEC in November. Its most important outing of the year, however, is obviously the club show on the 18th Feb. The layout is the quayside terminus of an ex-LSWR secondary main line set in the late 50's that is inspired by (but quite definitely neither a model of nor based upon) Weymouth. Those most closely involved with the layout at the moment consist of three vaguely GWR types (Ranging from the Cambrian at the Grouping through to BR (WR) in the early 60's), an LMS modeller with LNWR leanings, a retired Brighton fireman, a Circle Line driver, an EWS driver and an Army cadet whose fingers we have threatened to amputate if he persists in trying to poke a loco into life without first checking the control panel. None of us, you will note, have any allegience to the former LSWR. As our former Brighton fireman transfered to the LMS shed at Camden before retiring even our Southern links are a bit vague! Come and see how we get on at Bletchley College on the 18th of Feb. Once you've done that, come and see us again at ExpoEM at Bracknell in May to see if we've got any better! Printed copies on the day will cost 20 pence but downloads are, of course, free of charge! Admission fees this year have been held at 2011 prices and there are discounts for children and pensioners who only pay £2.50 for entry, even less with a valid rail ticket to Bletchley station. For full show details, see our website at: www.mkmrs.org.uk/exhibitions Hope to see you there. Ian

Dad-1
Just had to use a fine Micromesh abrasive to get 37 sound happy. 6 months in a dark corner of my garage is not good news. Now to pack some items to work on 'modelling'- plastic, card, whatever. My small diorama that'll be keeping me company Dad-
ianbartlett
Thanks to so many of you for coming along to our exhibition yesterday (Sat 18th February). We are delighted to announce that almost 1,800 people attended our show which made this another record year. Attendance was up by around 25% on last year. We hope you enjoyed the show as much as we did. We are aware that the exhibition became very busy at times and some people may have experienced considerable crowding. While we are delighted that so many people came along, clearly we would prefer that you are able to move freely around the layouts and trade stands. Please accept our apologies if you were affected by this, but rest assured that we are already reviewing our planning and considering what we can do to make the event bigger and better for 2013; we’ll let you know our plans as soon as we have reviewed Saturday's show. A short survey… If you have time, we would really appreciate your feeback on what you thought of the exhibition; if you have two minutes to complete a very short survey, please visit our feeback page at: www.mkmrs.org.uk/feedback Once again, thank you for coming - we hope to see you there again next year. RMweb Premium Pannier Tank Posted February 19, 2012 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 19, 2012 We are aware that the exhibition became very busy at times and some people may have experienced considerable crowding. Unfortunately, despite living within a mile of the show, having experienced these conditions a couple years ago, I no longer attend the show. Surely a change of venue is in order. RMweb Premium Lambton58 Posted February 19, 2012 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 19, 2012 Hi Thanks for the show. I took a few photo's, mainly of Ballyconnell Road & Milton Quays as these were (imho) the best layouts. I'll upload them once I've remembered how to! ianbartlett
Unfortunately, despite living within a mile of the show, having experienced these conditions a couple years ago, I no longer attend the show. Surely a change of venue is in order. Bletchley Leisure Centre? Sorry to hear that. The problem is lack of suitable space in the area. We looked at Bletchley Leisure Centre before but for varous reasons (off the top of my head I can't remember...) it wasn't suitable. Certainly we couldn't physically fit any more people in under the current arrangements and, to be honest, it's not great for us either when we can't move round between exhibitors and traders. We have a couple of ideas in mind for next year, so we'll let you know as soon as we have something concrete sorted out.
RMweb Premium Lambton58 Posted February 20, 2012 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 20, 2012 As promised some snaps from the MK MRS show... Ballyconnell Road - should have said previously, I thought the guys running this layout were great, chatty friendly and engaging with the public.
