Help with wagon identification

Can anyone help withe TOPS codes of the wagons in the following video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAigpKF2PcU

The train is carrying long lengths of rail and I assume has the ability to lay it as it travels (slowly!).

Have these ever been available RTR or are there any kits available , as it is something I would quite like to model?

Thanks

That's one of the Railtrack (now Network Rail) long welded rail trains. Yes it has the ability to lay rail lengths.

Lead vehicle is a YEA 'Porpoise' (ex BR refurbished) and all the other vehicles are JZA

YEA pics (look for 979601 for a similar one to the video)

There is no kit or RTR option for the Porpoise in OO (don't know about other scales?)

There is no RTR or kit option especially for the JZAs in OO either....but

The low numbered JZA (933xx, 934xx) are basically KFA intermodal flats with modules on, Hornby does do a suitable KFA but you'll need to scratchbuild modules for them.

The high numbered JZA (936xx up) are also 60' intermodal flats with modules on, I believe they were newbuild for the JZA role and there is no suitable donor model available.

Sorry that doesn't help much!

I was always intrigued that the long rail lengths are flexible enough to bend with the train as it goes round corners. I wonder if this would be possible in OO with code 75 or code 100 rail or would it just derail?

On the real thing it's running on rail that's bent that much, so it must be capable of doing so.

I doubt that would work with the sharp corners most of us use in modelling though....I think our rails tend to be stiffer than scale, if that makes sense.

I have heard of folk trying plastic or rubber based ones if you were wanting to give it a go?
