tetleys
As most will know I do not model the Cornish scene but by accident I discovered what may prove to be a cheap form of China Clay for those that have Cornish based layouts. I'm currently building a new railway room complete with a three bedroom annex and have now reached the stage of glaze tiling the three bathrooms. I've foolishly chosen porcelaine tiles that require endless cutting with a diamond disc running in a tray of water. Over a days work the tray requires cleaning which I do with a spatula, the very fine bed of consolidated silt is white-grey in colour and when dry is what it appears. Caolin or China clay, one of the main components of ceramics but finely ground by the diamond disc cutter. I don't suggest building a house to weather your clay hods or clay pit but make friends with somebody who is re-furbing their bathroom or kitchen. Dave S.
