darren01 Posted February 8, 2012 Share Posted February 8, 2012 HI You have not said is this UK layout, if it is, Yards are made from a mix of ash, have a look at C+L for their yard ash ballast. Also have a look at some good photo of yards for the period you are doing would be a good start, their lots on the web. Track work in yards was in some place over grown with weeds and grass, hard standing was normally around buildings and road ways in the yard. theoldmansminion Posted February 8, 2012 Author Share Posted February 8, 2012 oopps, yes of course southern based layout, late 50's early 60's the area to done is basically the green area, the turn table will have lots of walking boards round it,with patches of laid concrete a retaining wall starting from the left then running the whole length of the far roof beam, with a few patches of chalk looking subsidence here and there, inspection pits on other 5 shed roads.the mainlines will disappear into a tunnel on the most left, then go around the back of this part and rejoin the layout on the right.
