Coldgunner
I'm due to paint my scrathbuilt platform in the coming few days, but I'm not sure on colours. I've laid down sandpaper to provide a surface but I need someone to recommend me a good grey colour that won't look too dark. The platform edging will hopefully be a moulded solution and is not an issue, its just the top I need to paint. thanks
Bruciethefish
Try Rover tempest grey, which seems to come out quite matt.. Ideally you'll need to weather it a bit to give a more natural look..
Black Sheep
is it sandpaper or wet 'n' dry paper? if the latter then rubbing your finger up and down it a bit normally tones it down nicely.
Il Grifone
Emery cloth is about the right colour to start with for an asphalt surface and just needs a bit of weathering. The old solution was black or dark grey paint and shake on scouring powder (eg VIM or see below), which leaves a matt and slightly uneven surface . (As always, try on scrap first and keep off other paintwork.) http://frugalliving....ring_Powder.htm
