James90012
Just a quickie for this morning: Was it the case that the Mk3s used in the HST sets for both VWC and VXC had silver surrounds around the windows whereas the loco-hauled variants lacked these features - retaining a red window surround? Supaned
VWC and VXC had a common HST fleet - the stock was interworked with changeovers at Longsight as required , and a set of ECS moves Laira-Longsight and vv for transferring odd vehicles. I'm afraid I can't help with the window frames , but some of the prototype HST trailers were in the VT fleet , these were easily identified as they didn't have the raised beading around the window (which was sometimes silver on the series builds)
RMweb Premium nightstar.train Posted March 20, 2012 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 20, 2012 If you have a look at this Wiki Commons image it does seem that the Virgin HSTs have silver window frames. http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Virgin_trains_%60Leamington_Spa2.png Can't find a picture of the loco hauled Mk3s though, so not sure about them.
