cary hill
As per this link: http://www.flickr.co...157626959912923 Just curious as to the most likely contents of the "sack" shown in this photograph. I thought perhaps some agricultural produce. Any other suggestions? Edit for agricultural spelling skills
lapford34102
Probably spares or somesuch. It was a commonly used method of getting supplies from the junction station to a shed on a branchline. Stu
Cornish Triang Paul
Have seen photos of this before where spare linen from the sleeper was being transported on a light engine move to save time between PZ/LA.
RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted March 23, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 23, 2012 Looks like a sack of spuds to me - all lumpy.
jonny777
Perhaps the driver "came by" a brace of pheasants on a trip working through the countryside?
steve fay
Perhaps the driver "came by" a brace of pheasants on a trip working through the countryside? Could be true, I used to know a fireman who worked the pontypool monmouth trains and they would stop at farms for spuds eggs rabbits pheasents and runner beans. by the time the loco got back to ponty it looked like a farmers cart. Where everything would be passed on to the relevant receipients. now that would be an interesting model!
