Postage Increases

As you may be aware the Post Office are increasing their Prices in April. What you may not know is how much they are increasing the price of posting packets by (anything over 25mm thick, or over 35.cm x 25cm). The minimum cost of a First Class package is going up from £1.58 to £2.70. Please remember that we have to charge VAT on UK and European postage charges making the cost of any package at least £3.24 in post and VAT alone. On top of all this, the Post Office have increased the cost of collecting the mail from our office by 20%. Post to Europe and the rest of the world has also increased considerably.

We have held our postage costs unchanged since August 2009, despite 2 increases in VAT and increases by the Post Office. We try to keep the charges as low as possible and have kept the UK maximum to £10. Please note Courier services may be slower than post as we normally use a 48hour service, and the post is collected much later in the day than courier deliveries, so will probably leave 1 day later.

This also means that we are no longer able to cover the cost of multiple deliveries when on the few occasions we are out of stock of some items. If we are out of stock of any items they will be deleted from the order unless specifically requested otherwise and sent on when available with additional p&p charges.

The following new rates will apply to orders received from 27th April:

UK:

Up to 500g = £4

501g to 750g = £6

751g to 1000g = £8

Anything over 1000g = £10. We may at our discresion use a courier over 1000g.

Europe:

Up to 200g = £5

Each additional 200g (or part) up to 1kg = £2. Over 1kg we will need to quote for.

Rest of World (No VAT Applies)

Up to 200g = £6

Each additional 200g (or part) up to 1kg = £3. Over 1kg we will need to quote for.

Bill Bedford Bogies

Feedback from customers has revealed an issue with Bill Bedford Bogies. It appears that early examples had axle bearing packing washers. Bill removed these washers as he considered they were too difficult to use and changed the instructions to squeeze the sides in to take up the slack. We were not aware of this and included the old instructions to use the washers in products we packed. A number of customers have indicated they think that the washers are a better solution, so they are now available separately under part number BBE015-4. We will get the instructions updated and onto the website as soon as we can.

Open Day News

As per the last two years we will be holding our annual open day at the end of June. John Lloyd from Green Scenes will be there demonstrating his Flock-it tool for realistic grass, and will no doubt have a range of his products for you to buy. Also Robin Whittle has agreed to bring along his fabulous work in progress - Bristol Barrow Road shed. As always there will be a free barbecue and 10% off everything. This is held in our workshops which are about 7 miles north of our published mail order address. Please contact us for directions and help us estimate numbers for the barbecue.

Full details of all our other products are on our website www.eileensemporium.com
