Combe Martin
Modelmaster used to produce a sheet of S&D loco cabside numbers (BR era, all sorts of classes) . Does anyone know if they are still produced. I've search the Modelmaster website and cant find any reference to them. Have they been sold on for someone else to produce ? Jim49
Can't comment on whether they are no longer produced or if they have been sold but I have seen the set on sale at an exhibition fairly recently. Unhelpfully, I can't remember who the trader was. Incidentally, the set only covers Southern & Midland region loco types that ran on the S&D but for some reason does not include any of the 8Fs that ran in later years. There was no provision for BR Standards which, given that almost all the classes were represented at some time or other, was a bit of a nuisance if anyone was renumbering to give some variety. Perhaps a separate sheet was planned but never put into production?

Perhaps a separate sheet was planned but never put into production? Well it's only the Midland locos numbers that I'm after. The Standards arn't a problem as Fox do sets that cover all of them, and I've already used them to renumber quite a few Bachmann Std 5s and 4s into S&D locos. Fox also do a sheet that covers 8Fs too, but not all 5 digits. It has the first 3 plus single transfers for digits 4 & 5. Hornby have already made 34041 Wilton, 34043 Combe Martin, and 34045 Ottery St. Mary, so I'm not worried about Bullieds either. It's just 4Fs 3Fs and 2Ps I'm looking for. One other thing, I do know that the set was supposed to include Jinty 47542, except, that upon examining one a couple of years ago, 47542 wasn't on it ! Jim49
Well it's on mine! Sheet 4009A, 1 column in from the right hand side and 1 row down. Check again and if you can't find it, then there must be more than one set of numbers. If you really need this number, please PM me and I will send you the sheet I have and you can return it when you have finished with it. Jim
Combe Martin
Thats interesting. when I examined a sheet at an exhibition a few years ago it was definitely missing. They must have corrected it, I dont know how old the stock was that i was looking at. Many thanks for the offer, but I've just done 47542 using individual digits.Very fiddly and it took ages too
Combe Martin
I've just emailed Modelmaster, and they do still do them, but it's been revised and is now sheet G4009. So I've ordered some. Many thanks for your help.
Jim49
Good news CM, glad you're sorted. BTW, are all the numbers on G4009 different from those on 4009A and are there any 8Fs in there?
Combe Martin
This is the list of what's on G4009 : 34040 34041 34042 34043 47316 41241 41242 41249 47542 47465 43194 43218 43419 44826 44839 44146 44422 44523 45440 47190 40563 40696 40700 58051 58086 51202 53801 53803 53806 53808 So No 8Fs Is it very different from 4009A
Jim49
Thanks for the list CM. It does seem familiar as I have 47316, 41249(?), 44839, 44422 45440 & 40696 up in the loft and don't recall too much faffing about with individual numbers to get them done. I still have 2 3Fs to renumber but as one is a poor runner, that one might be going back. I will check my sheet later when I get home.
Jim49
Just checked my set of numbers and it is exactly as Combe Martin has listed but is definitely sheet 4009A. A mystery but no matter.
Combe Martin
Well sheets G4009 have arrived now, and surprise surprise, the cabside number sheet dosn't have 47542 on it. Good job I don't need that one now. What it does have, is 47316 twice. The smokebox number sheet does have 47542 however.
