virginhst539
hi just got hornbys grand central hst powercars and the plan has always been to repaint them in to the rather strikeing orange stripe from the current plain black livery. the job involves removeing the old logos, painting the orange stripe on the body side and takeing the warning panal yellow back a bit and up to the cab window, and last but not least the new logos and 434** numbering. the plan was to just paint the orange stripe over the black and use Tcut to remove the decals and yellow. i normaly just strip the paint of and prime the locos but can anyone tell me if the method i have mentioned useing some sort of paint/decal remover them painting the orange would work?? thanks in advance virginhst539
Guest 40-something
Hi I think it maybe best to strip the shells completely as painting the orange on top of the black will take a lot of coats to bring out the 'brightness' of the orange and will leave the orange stripe standing proud. Strip it back, prime with white primer then respray yellow, orange, black.
