Iain Popplewell Posted February 11, 2014 Share Posted February 11, 2014 Finally, the rails and card support are cut with a Dremmel cutting disk. The cutting disc leaves a wider gap than ideal and hopefully now you can see the need for those card spacers. One tip. If you cut the rails using a razor saw rather than a cutting disc you end up with a much smaller gap between the cut rail ends.No removable packing is needed between the boards as the gap is already narrow enough to allow the smooth transition of rolling stock wheels.I've used this method on my layout with excellent results.(see my link below.
